I hope all students and parents/carers are well.
I’m writing this update because recently various lockdown restrictions have started to lift, and today it was announced that some activities such as leisure centres will be opening shortly. So I thought I’d give an update on LTKD.
I have been closely watching what schools and leisure centres are permitted to do. In addition though, there is specific guidance relating to the use of the community centre. As it stands the centre is unable to support mixed activities, due to the cleaning requirements in-between different groups. So priority is currently given to the school club (for child care reasons). Over the summer there is an activity group that has a two week block booking, so they can have exclusive access during that time.
For obvious reasons clubs / activities that only want one or two nights are not going to be able to use the hall until September at the earliest. That is, until the rules on mixed activities are relaxed.
I’ll keep monitoring the situation, and update when I can. As it stands though, I’m looking at mid September as a potential LTKD re-opening opportunity.
Please keep well in the meantime, and if you have any specific queries please get in touch
To all students and parents/carers.
Due to recent advice from the UK Government around social distancing and non essential journeys it is with regret that I have had to make the difficult decision to suspend training at the club until further notice.
The covid-19 is a clearly a unique and rapidly changing situation, so at this stage I can’t say for how long classes will remain suspended. I will continue to monitor UK Government advice and react accordingly.
Other clubs within Authentic England have also stopped training. The grading planned for 29th March has been postponed.
I hope you all remain well over the coming weeks, or however long this lasts.
Please get in touch if you have any queries.
Further to previous announcements, we can now run a class on Monday 23rd March as normal. So class is back on.
The next coloured belt grading is scheduled for Sunday 29th March at Sutton Bonington. (expected start time 11am)
I will advise students who I feel are ready to grade.
Happy New Year!
Classes re-start on Monday 6th January and I look forward to seeing you back at training. The 2020 schedule is published here.
Grading dates have yet to be advised, but I’m expecting one before Easter, another before the summer break, and finally one towards the end of the year. Regular attendance is crucial to making progress through the syllabus and being ready to grade. As we only have one class a week it’s really important students attend weekly, throughout the term.
Theory – theory – theory! The physical side of Taekwon-Do we can only do in a training hall. However the theory can, and should, be learnt and practiced at home. Please ensure you have the appropriate sheet(s) from this web site (click here) and review them throughout the term. As students progress through the grades remember to revise previous theory as well as learning the new theory.
Finally, I’d like to start the class as close to 7pm as possible, to maximise the time available. Please aim to be at the hall for 6.55pm, and no later than 7pm. That will enable me to complete the register, lock the door, and get the class started swiftly. Thank you.
See you soon,
Here is the class schedule for 2020.

Very sorry to have to cancel the last class before summer. Unfortunately I’ve taken ill and Garry is away with work.
Hope you all have a great summer and I look forward to seeing you in September.
As previously mentioned, there is no class on Monday 1st July.
Instead I’ll run a class on Sunday 30th June, starting earlier at 6pm, running until 7:30pm.
I hope to see you there.
Due to another commitment we are unable to use the hall on Monday 1st July, and thus there will be no class that day.
We’ve been offered Sunday evening, 30th June, as an alternative. We could stick to the same time (7pm to 8:30pm), or perhaps start earlier (e.g. 6pm to 8pm).
Next week in class please let me know if you can train on Sunday evening, and assuming sufficient interest I’ll run a class.
